Workshop formats

Every class is built around handbuilding for sculpture. Expect demonstrations, guided making time, and honest talk about drying and firing.

Sessions run with a maximum of eight makers so each person keeps a clear table span and receives feedback on joins, wall thickness, and proportion. Clay, basic tools, and bisque firing for class pieces are included unless noted. Glaze firing seats are scheduled after forms are bone dry and approved for the kiln.

Hands pinching a sculptural clay form — Pinch studies often become the heart of a larger composite piece.

Intro handbuilding (3 hours) — wedge, pinch, and a small slab or coil form. Ideal if you have never touched clay or want a focused refresh.
Coil & slab intensive (two days) — build taller walls, plan supports, and leave with a presence piece drying under plastic.
Surface evening (2.5 hours) — oxides, engobes, and satin glaze tests on bisque tiles and approved forms.
Open studio block (monthly) — for alumni and enrolled makers who need supervised bench time between courses.
Private group day — teams and studios book a custom brief focused on sculptural construction, not production ware.
